Dan leads the Ninjas, a group masquerading as resistance fighters against the Genma regime while actually operating as bandits preying on human peasants. They steal crops and tributes intended for the Genma overlords, callously ignoring peasant fears of retaliation.

Dan espouses a Social Darwinist worldview, declaring humans inherently weak and deserving of Genma oppression. His pettiness manifests in a cruel deception: tricking Gin into eating roasted meat he falsely claims is human flesh—later revealed as pork—to provoke distress. This act precipitates his downfall.

Dan dies after mortally wounding Nuu, a wolf guardian. In vengeance, Gin impales him with an ice spike, crushes him with a meteor, and annihilates his remains with a lightning storm. Though his role is brief, Dan’s actions trigger lasting repercussions: his past involvement with Ran leads to her pregnancy, and their child Dar emerges as the reincarnated Great Genma, making Dan an inadvertent catalyst for the series’ climactic conflict.
