Kriks, a young boy stricken by a terminal illness, becomes the catalyst for his family’s desperate quest to retrieve the Tear of Epona—a rare flower in Magmell rumored to cure his condition. His parents and older brother launch an initial expedition, but tragedy claims the parents’ lives. The brother, now consumed by selfish ambition, assembles a second crew under false pretenses, slaughtering them to nurture the corpse-dependent blossom.

Unaware of his sibling’s betrayal, Kriks enlists an Angler to aid in rescuing him. During the confrontation, the brother impales Kriks with a bone, spilling blood that finally coaxes the Epona flower to bloom. After consuming the Tear to gain monstrous strength, the brother meets defeat, while Kriks, fatally wounded, perishes—his fate a stark testament to greed’s corrosive power within Magmell’s perilous grasp.
