Description
Sara Azuma is a kappa idol and host of a zombie-focused news program, balancing dual forms: a human guise with long hair and vibrant idol attire, and a diminutive, round, beakless kappa form standing knee-high with pale coloring. Beyond her on-screen role, she operates as a narrative anchor akin to a Greek chorus, weaving cryptic allegorical commentary through scrolling text. Her messages situate her symbolically within the story’s themes—existing "between Sumida ward and Taito ward" and claiming a prince "between love and desire"—blending literal and metaphorical boundaries.

In the spin-off *Reo and Mabu~ Together They Are Sarazanmai*, Sara is adopted by policemen Reo Niiboshi and Mabu Akutsu after being discovered as an infant on a plate. The manga explores her domestic upbringing under their unexpectedly nurturing care, contrasting their warmer parental personas with their detached main-series counterparts. A pivotal dream sequence depicts an adult Sara reuniting with her implied prince, Keppi, over the Sumida River, reinforcing her role as a bridge between human and supernatural realms.

Lively yet naively absentminded, Sara often displays indifference to peril—even when captured—while retaining an earnest, cheerful demeanor. Her preferences are distinctly kappa-like: adoring cucumbers and loathing eggplants. A defining quote about forging connections through the "pain of loss" underscores her thematic resonance with sacrifice and human desire.

Her absence from Reo and Mabu’s Twitter account and the manga’s dream-centric narrative hint at ambiguous timelines or metaphysical layers to her existence. Through allegorical text and symbolic placement, Sara embodies the series’ exploration of love, desire, and the porous borders separating reality from the unseen.
