Description
Ritsu Kageyama, the younger brother of Shigeo "Mob" Kageyama, attends Salt Middle School as a second-year student and serves on the student council. He excels academically and athletically. Initially, Ritsu places greater value on the psychic abilities his brother possesses naturally, a longing stemming from childhood frustration over his inability to perform basic esper feats like bending spoons, which led to suppressed envy.

Ritsu has black, slightly disheveled hair, expressive eyes with larger irises than Mob's, and a height that surpasses his older brother. He typically wears a black gakuran uniform with a standing collar.

His psychic powers awaken during the Big Cleanup Arc, triggered by overwhelming guilt from participating in unethical student council activities, including evidence planting and victimizing peers like Tenga Onigawara. The manifestation occurs after encountering the spirit Dimple, who temporarily possesses him. Dimple's presence helps Ritsu channel his latent abilities, though Ritsu later ejects Dimple once gaining independent control. His powers include telekinesis, barrier creation, and a "Ritsu 100%" state that temporarily rivals Mob's strength but causes physical exhaustion. Unlike Mob, Ritsu deems psychic violence acceptable when necessary, a stance contributing to a brief period of ruthlessness after his awakening. He mercilessly defeats delinquents and initially rejects Mob's concern, declaring their relationship over—a lie Mob instantly recognizes.

A central aspect of Ritsu's character is his inferiority complex toward Mob. He admires Mob's powers but harbors fear stemming from childhood incidents where Mob's outbursts caused harm. This fear prevents typical sibling conflicts, as Ritsu feels defenseless. Their relationship reaches a turning point when Claw kidnaps Ritsu during the 7th Division Arc. After Mob rescues him and praises his intelligence—calling Ritsu the person he admires most—Ritsu breaks down in tears, reconciling with Mob. He shifts his perspective, accepting that psychic abilities do not define worth and prioritizing his brother above all else.

In the World Domination Arc, Ritsu supports Mob by taking over household chores during marathon training and later aids Sho Suzuki in confronting Claw's leader. His growth is further illustrated in the OVA *REIGEN: The Miraculous Unknown Psychic*, where he fact-checks a book Mob co-writes with Reigen. Ritsu, alongside Teruki Hanazawa, corrects Reigen's embellished accounts of events, demonstrating his protective nature and commitment to truth.

Ritsu maintains a diary as a hobby. He prefers tofu and boiled pork but dislikes pork feet. He rarely listens to music but favors human-drama films. Despite a reserved demeanor, he attracts secret admirers. His character design and desire for self-reinvention share similarities with Suiryu from *One-Punch Man*, another work by creator ONE. His development culminates in a balanced worldview, marked by loyalty to Mob and acceptance of his own limitations.
