Discovered gravely wounded on the battlefield by Nozomi Kasuga, the Priestess of the White Dragon, her life-saving intervention becomes the catalyst for his betrayal of the Heike. He aligns with the Genji, driven by a personal vow to end the conflict and eradicate the vengeful onryō spirits unleashed by the Heike, whose presence disrupts the land's natural energies and weakens the White Dragon God.

This choice leaves him profoundly conflicted and emotionally scarred by his betrayal of family and former comrades. He internalizes this anguish, rarely voicing his sorrow or turmoil even as he fights against the Heike.
