Description
Tohka Yatogami emerged as a unique Spirit accidentally forged by Mio Takamiya’s Sephira Crystal experiments. Her creation diverged from other Spirits when her crystal absorbed pure love instead of negativity, granting sentience and humanoid form. Targeted for termination by Mio due to instability, she evaded destruction and later triggered recurring spatial quakes, drawing confrontations with the Anti-Spirit Team (AST) before Shido Itsuka intervened to save her. Shido and Reine Murasame named her "Tohka," referencing their first meeting’s date (April 10th) and symbolic ties to her ethereal origins.
She sports long, dark purple hair secured by a butterfly-shaped ribbon, indigo eyes, and a 155 cm frame. Her Astral Dress combines a black corset paired with purple armor plates and a gradient pink skirt, which transforms into a darker, more revealing silhouette when inverted. Triggered by despair, her Inverse state bleeds her hair into a white-purple gradient, shifts her eyes to magenta, amplifies aggression, and erases memories of Shido. A fused state with her Inverse counterpart Tenka merges their traits, featuring heterochromatic eyes and blended armor designs.
Initially wary of humans due to relentless AST assaults, her distrust melted through her bond with Shido. Post-sealing, she embraces a cheerful, childlike curiosity tempered by lingering modesty. Sparks of jealousy flare when Shido interacts with other Spirits, though she learns to temper these emotions over time. Despite naivety in daily life, her combat acuity shines through rapid tactical analysis and adaptive maneuvers, sharpened through countless battles.
Her primary armament, Sandalphon, manifests as a broadsword housed in a throne-like scabbard that morphs into the devastating Halvanhelev for amplified strikes. Inverse Tohka wields Nehemah, a shadowed blade that slices through spacetime. Regaining full control of sealed powers unlocks her ability to craft a pocket dimension mirroring reality, sustained by emotional focus.
Key events include a temporary capture by DEM Industries that triggers her Inverse form when Shido’s life falters, and a climactic clash with Origami Tobiichi where she reclaims sealed abilities. A divergent timeline depicts "Beast" Tohka—a feral variant who annihilates Spirits and ravages Earth after Shido’s death. Though restored to sanity by Shido’s intervention, Beast chooses isolation in her ruined world to preserve their shared memories.
Later arcs resolve her fusion with Tenka, merging their conflicting identities, and selfless acts like absorbing Mio’s Sephira Crystal to shield allies. These trials chart her growth from an isolated entity to a figure embracing empathy, sacrifice, and harmony with her dual existence.
