Description
Sōichirō Tachibana is a first-year high school student at Meisei Academy, stepbrother to Touma Tachibana and biological brother to Otomi Tachibana. His biological father, Keiichi Sawai, was Meisei High's former ace pitcher whose career ended prematurely from a hand injury during his first year. Keiichi died when Sōichirō was young, leaving him with memories of receiving a baseball glove from his father. His mother, Mayumi Sawai, later married Eisuke Tachibana, merging their families.

Sōichirō shares Touma’s birthday, born ten minutes earlier. As children, they competed to decide pitcher and catcher roles. Despite inheriting his father's pitching talent and strategic aptitude for the position, Sōichirō conceded pitcher to Touma after a rock-paper-scissors match. He later implied this was tactical, noting Touma benefits from Sōichirō's presence as catcher but lacks that support when Sōichirō pitches. His stepfather and coach were perplexed, recognizing his pitching potential.

As catcher, Sōichirō demonstrates strategic brilliance, calm leadership, and game-management skills vital to the team. Academically gifted and disciplined in baseball, he fiercely protects Otomi, insisting Touma accompany her if she might be alone. He dated frequently in middle school but shifted focus after developing strong feelings for Haruka Ohyama, daughter of Meisei’s baseball coach, whom he met entering high school. He visits her workplace to spend time together, though his feelings remain unreturned.

Sōichirō’s bond with Touma blends rivalry and deep camaraderie; they relentlessly push each other’s growth through mutual respect. He remains watchful of Touma and Otomi’s close relationship while extending protective instincts to both. Outside baseball, he enjoys cooking and shares household duties, reflecting his disciplined, caring nature.

Physically, Sōichirō has black hair and black eyes, typically in Meisei’s gakuran uniform. Athletic and often serious, his demeanor softens during lighthearted family or team moments. His journey centers on balancing family loyalty, athletic ambition, and personal growth—honoring his father’s legacy while forging his own identity as a catcher and strategist.
