Description
Marimo Jingūji serves as the somewhat ditzy homeroom teacher for class 3-B in one reality, struggling to maintain romantic relationships. Her longtime friend Kouzuki Yuuko frequently teases and manipulates her, involving her in activities like cosplay or wagers on classroom competitions. Students often call her informal nicknames like "Marimo-chan," reflecting her lack of classroom authority. The nickname "Mad Dog" originated in her college days, where she gained a reputation as a frenzied, unpredictable drunk.

Frustrated by the Empire of Japan's increasing militarization of education, Marimo voluntarily enlisted in the Imperial Japanese Army to become an *eishi* (pilot), aiming to end the war and restore the education system. During cadet training, she clashed intensely with her squad leader Arai, who believed women shouldn't serve on the frontlines. Despite this, both consistently ranked top in their class. In a Comprehensive Combat Evaluation, Marimo devised a risky plan using timing intervals of an automated turret to advance her squad. She volunteered as a distraction, succeeding with Arai's reluctant help. This led Arai to accept her "as a man," though Marimo later displaced him as squad leader during Tactical Surface Fighter training.

Rejecting an instructor posting, Marimo requested frontline deployment with the Japanese Expeditionary Force in Dalian, China. During a surprise BETA attack that annihilated most rearguard units, including her squad, Arai sacrificed himself to protect her from a Magnus Lux-type BETA. Witnessing this before entering a frenzied combat state, Marimo emerged as one of the few survivors of the "Eight Minutes of Death." She fought recklessly in subsequent battles to avenge fallen comrades before accepting reassignment to an instructional unit. Survivor's guilt became her driving force, believing her atonement was training cadets to survive even a second longer by imparting hard-earned combat knowledge.

As an instructor at Yokohama Base's 207th Training Unit, Marimo adopted a stern, cold demeanor, earning notoriety among cadets. Her combat experiences in China became legendary. She held the rank of Sergeant in UN forces, later revealed to be a Major in the Imperial Japanese Army/Military Defense Force, an assignment likely facilitated by Yuuko. The "Mad Dog" nickname resurfaced due to an incident with a former trainee. She trained cadets including Shirogane Takeru, permitting him to use "Marimo-chan" informally in private moments after graduation. During Takeru's severe depression following a traumatic combat debut where he felt humiliated by fear responses, she shared her own first combat experience: losing her entire battalion due to overconfidence and experiencing similar terror-induced incontinence. She reassured him that cowardice was acceptable if it led to survival and growth, praising his actions under extreme duress as exceptional.

While alone with Takeru after this conversation, a Soldier-class BETA that escaped detection attacked, brutally killing her. The creature consumed her upper body, leaving a disfigured corpse that deeply traumatized Takeru, contributing to his psychological breakdown. Her remains were later confirmed destroyed during the incident recovery and sent to her parents. She appeared posthumously in Takeru's memories during the Defense of Yokohama.
