Description
Misae Munakata serves as a lieutenant in the Special Task Force A-01, leading Flight C of the 9th Squadron "Isumi's Valkyries" with the callsign Valkyrie-3. She pilots Tactical Surface Fighters like the Test Type-02 Gekkou and Test Type-01 Shiranui Second against the BETA. Her personality blends an easygoing, sly nature with a penchant for teasing others, especially squadmate Shirogane Takeru, yet she hides a wise, mysterious side and a secret romantic streak. She mentors Ayamine Kei and shares a close friendship with Kazama Touko, frequently appearing together.
Severely injured defending Yokohama Base, she misses Operation Ouka. After a year and a half of recovery, she transfers to the Fuji Tactical Fighter Training Group. Rising to Captain, she commands the 12th Squadron Urd (Urd-1) during Operation Sledgehammer's assault on Objective 20. Later, she leads the Valkyrie Squadron at Fuji in the joint Japanese-Soviet attack on the Blagoveshchensk Hive.
In alternate scenarios, Altered Fable depicts her as a university graduate and former classmate of Takeru, engaging in paintball, swimming, and volleyball while retaining her sly demeanor. Kimi ga Ita Kisetsu features her as a second-year Kyoto transfer student, with a dedicated route added via free DLC.
The storyline Resurrection positions her as the main heroine one month before Alternative/Unlimited. Initially cold towards protagonist Silvio Orlandi, her attitude shifts during a "Seduction mission." While her initial advances are mission-driven, subsequent events spark genuine romantic feelings between them.
Physically, she has shoulder-length brown hair with straight V-bangs and spiky side bangs, grey eyes, a slim build, and pale skin. Her attire includes military uniforms, miniskirts, knee-high boots, pantyhose, and neckties, or casual wear like capri pants, tank tops, and bikinis outside combat.
Notable trivia includes her famous line "as long as it feels good, anything is fine," her undercover role as an EU spy at Yokohama Base, and her canonical bisexuality. Her surname Munakata combines "religion/sect/origin" (宗) and "image/figure" (像), while Misae means "beautiful" (美) and "serene/skillful" (冴).
