Description
Zero, originally named Xion, is a pivotal figure linked to End Earth. His past began on Valeria's shores, where he washed up amnesiac and was found by the elven adventurer Elwyn. Nursed to health at Volg's tavern, he possessed the Twin Dragon Rings – legendary artifacts amplifying the wearer's magic but risking destruction to any who wield both simultaneously. These rings became central to his existence.
A tragic event reshaped Xion's life. Possessed by Zeroboros, the chaotic entity sealed within the rings, he unwillingly caused the deaths of comrades Ryuna and Lazarus. This violence triggered a profound transformation. Overcoming the possession partially purified his spirit, turning one of his formerly black wings white and cementing his new identity as Zero. He accepted he was no longer entirely human.
Zero exists within the astral world, a dimension bridging the human world of Elde and the dream continent End Earth. He manifests as an enigmatic figure with one white angelic wing and one jet-black wing, symbolizing his internal duality – the remnants of Xion and Zeroboros's influence. Burdened by guilt over Ryuna and Lazarus, he used the power within the Sea Dragon King Ruins to revive them. After their revival, he deliberately distanced himself from former allies, particularly avoiding Mao.
His role evolved into an unofficial watcher or overseer for End Earth, distinct from figures like Sakuya. Recognizing his limitations and the lingering threat, he actively sought a successor. He encountered Souma Akizuki and Kureha Touka between dimensions during their transit to End Earth. During this meeting, Zero entrusted the world's protection to Souma, passing him one Twin Dragon Ring. This ring granted Souma enhanced perception to see the "true world."
After ensuring Souma accepted the responsibility, Zero chose to leave his comrades and End Earth's conflicts behind. His departure marked the completion of his transition from Xion and the formal passing of the guardian role. He later appeared as a boss encounter in the mobile game *Shining Wind X*.
