Description
Jeanne, originally called Iron Maiden Jeanne, is a French orphan raised from childhood in an isolated monastery, granting her minimal exposure to ordinary human life. Adopted by Luchist Lasso, the original leader of the X-Laws, she was manipulated into believing herself a destined saint tasked with destroying Hao Asakura, whom she perceives as the ultimate evil. This upbringing forged her noble yet detached worldview, framing conflicts in stark absolutes of good versus evil.

Her appearance features blood-red eyes, very pale silver hair, and a fragile build. She stands approximately 1.41 meters tall during the Shaman Fight, growing to 1.55 meters in adulthood. Her iconic battle attire includes spiked sandals that do not pierce her feet, large screws embedded in her hands, and a giant lock resembling a chastity belt over her abdomen, symbolizing her acceptance of self-inflicted suffering. She endures near-death states daily, confined for long periods within a solid iron maiden coffin lined with inward-facing spikes. This ritual amplifies her shamanic power (furyoku) through pain and healing cycles, increasing it to levels second only to Hao and Lady Sati among known shamans.

As the leader and symbolic figure of the X-Laws, Jeanne commands with a compassionate yet inflexible demeanor. She shows particular kindness toward younger members like Lyserg Diethel, defending him against Marco’s harshness, yet readily executes opponents who refuse her pleas for surrender, believing such deaths are justified to eradicate evil. This parallels Hao’s methods, though unlike him, she genuinely views her actions as martyrdom for global justice and remains unaware of their moral contradictions. Her emotional suppression is occasionally betrayed when the iron maiden’s exterior sheds blood tears during her sorrow.

Her primary ability channels Shamash, a Babylonian sun god and deity of justice classified as a Kami-class spirit. Using mediums like her mask or bolts, she manifests Shamash as a colossal armored entity or generates torture implements such as spiked interrogation chairs, guillotines, and bone-crushing devices for combat. Shamash also enables healing and resurrection, exemplified when reviving Tao Ren via a kiss. Her combat tier ranks at "Island level or higher," with relativistic to light-speed reactions and exceptional pain tolerance.

Following the Shaman Fight, Jeanne undergoes profound ideological transformation. Marrying Tao Ren and adopting the name Tao Jeanne, she renounces all violence, adopting an absolute prohibition against killing. This principle guides her parenting of their son, Men Tao, whom she raises to adhere strictly to nonviolence. In later events, confronted by Black Maiden, she commands Shamash to impose a death sentence upon herself to prevent Black Maiden from committing murder, demonstrating her unwavering commitment to pacifism.
