Description
Mai Oota, nicknamed Pii-chan for her whistle-like voice, studies fashion design at Yazawa School for the Arts. Her bushy curls, brown eyes, and Lolita-style outfits—frequently topped with whimsical hats—make her stand out. She clings to Petite Francoise, a stuffed rabbit she crafted herself, modeled after her late grandmother’s original creation. The doll, enshrined after her grandmother’s passing, became her childhood confidant during years of isolation.
Pii-chan’s life shifted in junior high when the puppeteering club taught her to channel shyness into artistry, sparking friendships and cementing her passion for crafting plush companions. This drive led her to Yazawa and the Akindo club, where she designs and sells stuffed animals. A crisis arises when Petite Francoise goes missing, prompting a collaborative search with Akindo peers. During the hunt, Pii-chan shares the doll’s origins: her grandmother’s gift, her own lonely recreation of it, and its role as a social crutch. The search ends with Yukari, a timid girl who bonded with the lost doll. Pii-chan selflessly gifts it to her, choosing to craft a new companion—a testament to her newfound confidence in human connections.
Despite her cheerful, gentle demeanor, Pii-chan humorously grapples with romance, fixated on finding someone who “looks good in white tights.” Her journey—from solitary dollmaker to collaborative artist—reflects both her artistic ambition and the quiet resilience beneath her sweet exterior.
