TV-Series
Description
Luna is the daughter of the owner of the Galaxy, a luxurious high-rise hotel that stands adjacent to the aging Tsuzureya inn. She is a classmate of the protagonist, 21 Emon, and is one of the main female characters in the television anime adaptation. In the television series she is depicted as an elementary-school student with green hair and a lively, modern appearance, a significant change from her original manga design which featured blonde hair and a more traditional well-bred look. She was born in Copernicus City on the Moon in the year 2040.

Luna possesses a sharp and resourceful personality. She is both brave and level-headed, often keeping her composure in dangerous situations where her friends panic. She does not hesitate to take decisive action, such as piloting a boat into outer space to rescue her companions. She is also highly competitive, willingly engaging in aerial races with Emon and standing up to anyone who belittles her family’s hotel. Despite her assertive nature, she is deeply caring and supportive, especially toward Emon. She values her friendship with him and shows a genuine interest in his dreams of space exploration, even when her own father’s business interests conflict with that of the Tsuzureya.

Her motivation is partly tied to her family’s status; she takes pride in the Galaxy and its reputation. However, she is also motivated by her growing feelings for Emon. She actively encourages his ambitions and is the one who proposes to join the Jupiter trip, demonstrating her willingness to step outside her comfortable life for the sake of adventure and for him. Her role in the story is that of the primary love interest and a key supporting character. In the anime, she is given far more screen time and agency than in the original manga, participating in several story arcs that were entirely created for the television series. Her relationship with Emon evolves from simple classmates and friendly rivals into a clear mutual affection. She is also the object of affection for their snobbish classmate Rigel, but she keeps him at arm’s length and treats him as a friend rather than a romantic interest. The series finale shows a time jump in which the adult Luna and Emon have become a married couple, fulfilling the romantic arc that was strongly developed throughout the anime.

Luna does not possess any supernatural or science-fictional powers. Her notable abilities lie in her intelligence, her calm judgment under pressure, and her piloting skill, which she demonstrates when she operates a small space boat during the Jupiter adventure. She also shows a talent for mediating conflicts between Emon and Rigel, and she is not afraid to speak her mind even to authoritative figures like her own father or high-status guests. Her development over the series is subtle but clear: she begins as a confident girl who is somewhat defined by her family’s wealth, and she gradually becomes more independent and more open about her feelings, culminating in her decisive choice to travel to Jupiter and later in the implied future where she and Emon build a life together.
