Max serves aboard Pirate Zap's ship alongside Bonnie. Growing dissatisfied with their pirate life, they plan an escape but lack the necessary funds. Their planning is overheard by three child hostages, including Amanda, the eldest. Amanda reveals knowledge of a hidden treasure left by her father, a professional treasure hunter, and proposes a deal: the treasure's location in exchange for the group's escape assistance.

Max and Bonnie agree to Amanda's proposal, viewing the treasure as their path to freedom. They facilitate the escape of Amanda and the two other children from Zap's ship. The group journeys together to a small island where Amanda believes her father concealed the treasure, spending roughly one month searching for it.

Their escape attracts pursuit from Zap and his superiors, the Bayan Pirates, who aim to reclaim the children and seize the treasure. On the island, Max's group encounters the Straw Hat Pirates. Conflict erupts when Amanda and Luffy are captured by the pursuing pirates. Max subsequently joins forces with the Straw Hat crew to rescue Amanda and confront the Bayan and Zap Pirates. His actions focus on protecting the children and countering the pirates threatening them. Max's documented appearances are limited to this television special.
