Description
Danji Momoyama, born Nadatsugu Minae, once led Team Blackout, securing 20 consecutive cardfight victories prior to aligning with Team Daybreak. Disowned by the Minae family for thwarting an exploitative arranged marriage involving Mirei Minae, he adopted his current alias, blending the kanji for "peach" and "mountain" to forge his reinvented identity.

Standing tall with a muscular frame, maroon hair, and light grey eyes, he dresses practically in rolled jeans, brown boots, and a white shirt layered beneath an army-green coat featuring a fur-lined hood. Beyond cardfighting, he balances eclectic roles as a botanist, kindergarten teacher, construction worker, and priest, frequently indulging in Princess Time Cafe’s Big Kani-Kani Parfait.

Specializing in Dark States decks, Danji employs Final Rush mechanics, wielding key units like Diabolos, "Violence" Bruce. His strategies adapt over time, integrating evolved cards such as Diabolos, "Unrivaled" Bruce and Diabolos Rapid-carrier, Geno to amplify offensive synergy. His record boasts triumphs over Tohya Ebata, Haruka Soukawa, and Michiru Hazama, tempered by defeats against Hiroshi Tanahashi and Mirei Minae.

Initially commanding Team Blackout, Danji relinquished leadership after defeating Tohya in overDress Season 2, endorsing Tohya as his successor before joining Haruka Soukawa’s Team Daybreak. Despite departing Blackout, he sustains a mentorship with Yu-yu Kondo, cultivating the younger fighter’s skills through shared respect and guidance, pivotal to Yu-yu’s progression.

His past intertwines with wider narratives: a flashback duel against Takumi Okura during the Divinez DELUXE Arc and later investigations into America’s Deluxe tournament signal deeper entanglements in unfolding conflicts. Strategic foresight defines actions like shielding allies from Daybreak’s banner-burning schemes, highlighting loyalty and tactical acumen.

Retroactive lore clarifies Danji as Team Blackout’s second leader, succeeding founder Ruka Miyako—a revision positioning him as a transient yet influential figure within the team’s history, underscoring his adaptability and enduring impact despite his outwardly carefree demeanor.
