Description
Born Nadatsugu Minae, Danji Momoyama adopted his new surname – derived from the kanji for "peach" and "mountain" – after being disowned by the Minae family. His disownment resulted from sabotaging Mirei Minae's arranged marriage to prevent her exploitation. Danji possesses maroon hair, light grey pupils, a tall stature, and a muscular build. He typically wears a long-sleeved white shirt partially tucked in, an unbuttoned army green coat with white fur around the hood, rolled-up jeans with a belt, and brown boots featuring lighter soles.
Originally the leader of Team Blackout, holding a record of 20 consecutive cardfight victories, Danji later departed to join Team Daybreak. Leadership of Blackout passed to Tohya Ebata and then Yu-yu Kondo. Notably, he was the team's second leader, succeeding founder Ruka Miyako.
Danji exhibits a hot-blooded, enthusiastic demeanor during cardfights, especially relishing matches against strong opponents. Outside the arena, he works diverse jobs including botanist, kindergarten teacher, construction worker, and priest. He favors the Big Kani-Kani Parfait from Princess Time Cafe, and his signature catchphrase is "Let's play. It's the beginning of a fun night."
As a cardfighter, he exclusively wields Dark States decks focused on the Final Rush mechanic, primarily using the avatar Diabolos, "Violence" Bruce. His deck evolved significantly:
* During will+Dress Season 2, he incorporated Diabolos, "Viamance" Bruce and units supporting Final Burst.
* He utilized a single copy of Demonic Jewel Dragon, Drajeweled in a digital rematch against Michiru Hazama.
* He added Diabolos Rapid-carrier, Geno for enhanced offense against Megumi Okura.
His official starter deck, "D Start Deck 02: Danji Momoyama -Tyrant Tiger-", emphasizes Final Rush and includes key cards like Diabolos, "Violence" Bruce and Time-fissuring Fist Colossus.
Danji's cardfight record shows varied outcomes:
* **overDress:** Wins against Tohya Ebata (Ep 1, 12), Yu-yu Kondo (Ep 3, 7), Haruka Soukawa (Ep 16); Losses to Hiroshi Tanahashi (Ep 5), Megumi Okura (Ep 13), Mirei Minae (Ep 17), Tohya Ebata (Ep 24).
* **will+Dress:** Loss to Michiru Hazama (S2, Ep 2); Wins against Yu-yu Kondo (S2, Ep 14), Michiru Hazama (S3, Ep 25), Megumi Okura (S3, Ep 30).
* A flashback (Divinez DELUXE Arc Ep 10) showed his victory over Takumi Okura.
His narrative continues through subsequent arcs, including participation in the DELUXE tournament in America and investigations into missing fighters during will+Dress Season 2. He remains active in the ongoing Divinez DELUXE Finals.
