TV-Series
Description
Kira is a duelist and Joe Kirifuda's childhood friend turned rival, their first encounter occurring beneath a cherry blossom tree when Joe was seven. Initially taller with distinctive blonde spiky hair and a white scarf—later exchanged for a red scarf gifted by Joe—Kira displayed exceptional dueling skills even in youth, consistently besting Joe in competitions while meticulously tracking their results.

His personality fixates on an inflexible, progressively distorted vision of justice. Heavily influenced by his enigmatic mother, who orchestrates events from the shadows, Kira adopts a ruthless stance toward enemy creature spirits, seeing their eradication as essential for balance. This clashes directly with the Kirifuda family's reverence for all life. His mother directs him to sever ties with Joe to embrace "the loneliness of justice" and masterminds operations like "Plan DG," stealing Joe’s dragon drawing to resurrect a destructive dragon entity.

Kira’s deck centers on Light Civilization, emphasizing Metallica-type creatures before integrating Judgment Emblems and Sabakists. Core cards include Shouten, Stellar Guidance; Wonder Turtle, Great Labyrinth Turtle; and his master card, Ov Sidia, the Black King of Light, acquired through a pact demanding unwavering resolve. His dueling approach focuses on dominating the field and sealing opponents’ options before delivering overwhelming final strikes.

Throughout the series, Kira’s actions intensify. He defeats foes like Boltz and Jababa Hat’s human form, occasionally killing duel warriors he judges "evil." His deployment of corrupted cards like DG ~The Thing Made By Man~, engineered by his mother’s experiments, jeopardizes the creature world’s stability. Critical losses—notably to Pyonko-Hime in a battle royale and later to the darkness entity 卍 De Szark 卍—compel him to face his ruthlessness’s repercussions, sparking genuine terror and regret.

In subsequent arcs, Kira experiences marked evolution. After his mother scales back involvement following Plan DG’s collapse, he progressively aligns with Joe’s team, transferring to Joe’s school and joining group endeavors. Though cautious around individuals tied to past conflicts—like Zero Jr., son of his adversary Ze-ro—he matures into a dependable ally. His growth encompasses securing new cards such as the King Master Card "I Am Justice If You Want" and confronting personal trials, including a strained friendship with Kouki over romantic confusion.

By the "King" series, Kira functions as a secondary protagonist within Joe’s circle, tempering innate suspicion with team loyalty. His journey traces a path from manipulated antagonist to multifaceted ally, with lingering scars from prior deeds continually shaping his choices and relationships.
