TV-Series
Description
Kuma is a pink-furred bear mascot featuring a pale pink muzzle, black dot eyes, and a pink triangle-shaped mouth. Bright yellow hearts adorn each ear, while two pale pink fluffy spots mark his body. He sports a purple bowtie centered with a yellow heart and possesses functional yellow wings.
His personality blends laziness with fierce determination. Competitively ambitious, he drives the idols he manages toward top status, genuinely prioritizing their success over personal gain. He frequently adds "-kuma" or occasionally "-kumamimumemo" to his sentences. Green juice is his trademark favorite food.
Originally manager for Mirei Minami, he later expanded his role to oversee the entire unit SoLaMi♡SMILE, which includes Laala Manaka, Sophy Hojo, and Mirei. This followed Sophy leaving her previous manager, Usagi, to join the group in Episode 13 of the original series. Kuma shares a "friendly rivalry" with Usagi, as both compete to become the top manager while frequently bickering over their teams' merits. He also harbors a crush on Neko, the cat-like mascot manager of Aromageddon alongside Usagi.
In *Idol Time PriPara*, his circumstances shifted significantly. During Episode 5, a disturbance he caused in Parajuku resulted in the revocation of his manager license. Consequently, he began working for the Shoebill Delivery Service. While delivering to Paparajuku, he encountered Laala and Yui Yumekawa. This led him to train Punicorn, Yui's unicorn-like manager, in managerial skills—covering venue reservation and coordination support—demonstrating his continued connection to idol management despite his demoted status.
His background reveals he was the franchise's first introduced mascot and remains the most prominently featured. Early design drafts lacked his signature bowtie, wings, and body pom-poms. His appearance inspired a parallel character in *Kiratto Pri☆Chan*. Physically, he stands approximately 19.5 cm tall, as ten stacked "Kuma-heads" equal the height of character Love Tochiotome.
