Description
Aogiri, also known as Archie Bourne Aogiri, commands Team Aqua in Pokémon Generations, bearing the surname Bourne and hailing from Lilycove City in Hoenn. He spearheads Team Aqua’s crusade to expand the world’s oceans, convinced this will forge a superior habitat for Pokémon by reversing human-caused pollution and marine habitat destruction. Archie views the sea as an irreplaceable treasure for all life, degraded by humanity’s actions to the detriment of innocent Pokémon. His strategy centers on awakening and commanding the Legendary Kyogre to achieve global oceanic growth.

In the Pokémon Generations episode "The Cavern," Archie leads grunts into the Seafloor Cavern to locate Kyogre. Discovering it, he overrides subordinate Shelly’s protests and uses the Blue Orb to rouse Kyogre’s Primal form. The episode culminates with him aboard the stolen Submarine Explorer 1, confronting the enraged Primal Kyogre. This mirrors his core-game portrayal: stealing Devon Goods, a Meteorite, and the submarine to awaken Kyogre. Post-rampage, he admits fault and disbands Team Aqua.

Beyond Generations, alternate-timeline Archie in Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon succeeds in expanding oceans, joins Team Rainbow Rocket, and after dimensional displacement, reattempts his plan before defeat and return. In Pokémon Masters, partnered with Kyogre, he plots to purify oceans by sinking Pasio Island. Later, he cooperates with rival Maxie to pacify rampaging Legendaries while upholding oceanic ideals. Pokémon Adventures manga depicts him as overtly antagonistic, deploying anti-Team Magma propaganda and striving to control Kyogre and Groudon via Red and Blue Orbs.

Archie holds an oceanography doctorate and lectured at university before leading Team Aqua. His design features a blue bandana with a white "A" logo, tanned skin, a muscular build, and swimwear or sailor-inspired attire. He is married to Shelley Aogiri and has two children, Cecilia and Archie Jr.
