Description
Howlkor is a Cerberus-like Bakugan who serves as the guardian partner of Lightning, a main character in the series. As a massive, three-headed canine belonging to the Darkus attribute, Howlkor is a formidable presence in battle.
The core of Howlkor’s personality is an intense and aggressive nature, being a Bakugan singularly focused on winning. This fierce disposition often intimidates his own partner, Lightning, as Howlkor's drive for victory borders on being scary. This dynamic stems from Howlkor's original decision to partner with Lightning, based on a mistaken expectation that the boy's animal instincts would mirror his own aggressive combat style. Despite his fearsome demeanor, Howlkor is not a villainous character. He is a protagonist who shows respect and niceness toward his allies, particularly towards Drago and the rest of his friend group. He also shares a mutual animosity with the antagonist Magnus Black and his partner Bakugan, Nillious.
Howlkor's primary motivation is victory in battle, but his role in the story is deeply tied to his partner's personal growth. The relationship between Howlkor and Lightning is a central point of development; Lightning must learn to become more assertive and develop an "alpha male" personality to earn Howlkor's respect and properly control him in combat. This evolution suits the warrior Bakugan, as it allows their partnership to reach its full potential.
