Description
Hydorous is a lion-like Bakugan of the Aquos faction, renowned for speed, agility, and a ruthlessly aggressive combat style. Known as the "prince of the seas," his ferocity contrasts with the thoughtful demeanor of his human partner, Shun Kazami, though their differing approaches prove complementary. Their partnership began prior to Shun joining the Awesome Ones. Hydorous first battled prominently alongside Shun during a team selection competition against Magnus Black's Webam and Fangzor. Despite losing due to interference, their display of genuine care and teamwork secured them Awesome Ones membership, unlike Magnus who valued power over partnership.
Throughout Bakugan Battle Planet, Hydorous undertook crucial missions, including a rescue operation to save Bakugan Bear from the hunter Strata. He served as Shun's primary partner for most of the series, temporarily replaced by Sharktar during Geogan Rising. In the non-canon "Small Brawl Stories," Hydorous clashed with Drago over a game controller, destroying it before they reconciled.
Hydorous achieved significant evolutions. He attained Hyper Hydorous in Bakugan Battle Planet, boosting his power to 800 Bs and debuting in "Ronin Son." Later, in Bakugan: Evolutions, he gained two Elemental Evolutions: Hydorous Strength Mode (Neo Hydorous in the physical game) and Hydorous Speed Mode, each at 700 Bs, emphasizing enhanced physical power and agility respectively.
A Darkus variant of Hydorous appeared under the control of Shun's doppelgänger in the "Outer Demons" storyline, depicting an antagonistic alternate version.
In battle, Hydorous utilizes specialized equipment like the Baku-Gear "Blitz Storm" and the Nanogan partner "Riptide." His standard power fluctuates between 500 and 600 Bs across forms, with Hyper Hydorous reaching 800 Bs. He fought globally, such as uniting with former adversaries against the rogue Bakugan Tiko to protect Earth.
His development involved adapting to new battle mechanics like Baku-Gear enhancements. His role extended beyond combat, confronting personal challenges like the familial pressure on Shun when Shun's father attempted to return him to Japan.
