TV-Series
Description
Fran, orphaned in Ehrenfest's temple orphanage, ascended to gray priesthood after his baptism. His earliest assignment placed him under Sister Margaret, a blue shrine maiden and former orphanage director. She sexually abused Fran and other underage gray priests in a hidden room, leaving him with deep mental scars and enduring distrust of women, especially blue shrine maidens. He felt profound relief when Margaret committed suicide following her disgrace, though he did not intervene. Unknowingly, this earned him the intense hatred of Arno, a fellow gray priest infatuated with Margaret, who blamed Fran for her death.
After Ferdinand arrived at the temple, both Fran and Arno became his attendants. Fran deeply admired Ferdinand's skill and dedicated himself completely to his duties, earning Ferdinand's trust and becoming one of his most valued attendants through sheer competence and diligence.
Fran was reassigned to serve as head attendant to Myne upon her arrival, tasked with organizing Gil, Delia, and Myne herself. He initially resented this move, interpreting it as Ferdinand discarding him, and took out his frustration on Myne. His attitude transformed after a meeting with Benno revealed Ferdinand assigned him specifically because he was the most trustworthy and capable attendant for the role. Recognizing Ferdinand's profound trust, Fran recommitted wholeheartedly to serving Myne, seamlessly transitioning to become her head attendant when she became Rozemyne.
Fran possesses a serious, disciplined, and respectful personality, taking immense pride in his work and holding himself to exacting standards. He experiences significant frustration when failing to meet expectations but deep satisfaction from competent performance. He maintains exceptional emotional control, rarely showing feelings unintentionally. The sole recorded lapse occurred when an orphan named Thore shouted that Rozemyne couldn't understand family separation; witnessing Rozemyne's own heartbreak over this, Fran reacted by slapping Thore in anger.
Physically, Fran is a tall young man with light purple hair and brown eyes, described as broad-shouldered and strong, though he appeared frail in youth. He shares Ferdinand's workaholic nature and is notably skilled at tea preparation.
Throughout his service to Rozemyne, Fran demonstrates unwavering loyalty. He ensures other attendants treat her with respect and educates her on noble etiquette. While making progress overcoming his trauma—such as entering the room where Margaret abused him—deep-seated scars persist. While selecting ceremonial robes with priests Lothar and Ymir, Fran froze and his teeth chattered upon encountering Margaret's old robes. He concealed this reaction and argued against using the robes for Angelica, citing their overly cute floral design, partly motivated by a personal desire never to see them again, underscoring his ongoing struggle despite Rozemyne's supportive environment.
Fran treasures the pen he received as a coming-of-age gift while serving Ferdinand, and the diptych given by Myne. His relationship with Ferdinand remains one of deep respect and gratitude, as Ferdinand's trust fundamentally shaped his dedication to Rozemyne. Fran later moved to Alexandria to continue serving as Rozemyne's head attendant when she became High Bishop there.
