OVA
Description
Mari is a character who appears exclusively in the original video animation Violence Jack: Harem Bomber-hen, which adapts one of the story arcs from the Violence Jack manga. Before the Great Kanto Hellquake devastated the region and threw society into chaos, Mari was engaged to a man named Ken. In the post-apocalyptic wasteland, her primary motivation is to reunite with Ken, who disappeared during the disaster. She travels from one ruined settlement to another, searching for him, and this quest places her directly in the path of the warlord known as Slum King and his brutal followers. Along her journey, she is captured by Slum King’s forces and subjected to torture and training as a sex slave. Her situation becomes a central point of conflict when Ken reappears, having himself become a member of Slum King’s organization. Slum King offers Ken a deal: in exchange for Mari’s freedom, Ken must kill the enigmatic wanderer Violence Jack. Mari’s role in the story is that of a victim and a catalyst. Her captivity and relationship with Ken drive the plot’s emotional stakes, forcing Ken to choose between his humanity and his loyalty to the warlord. She has no supernatural or combat abilities; her strength lies in her determination to survive and her hope of finding the man she loves. Her personality is not deeply explored beyond her resilience and devotion to Ken. Throughout the OVA, she remains a passive figure, acted upon by others, and does not undergo significant personal development. Her ultimate fate is tied to the outcome of the struggle between Ken, Violence Jack, and Slum King.
