Description
Rigurd began as chief of a goblin village in the Great Jura Forest. Initially short and wrinkled, he struggled to keep his eyes fully open and relied on a walking stick for mobility and balance. His speech was slow and stuttering. The village lived under the protective aura of the sealed Storm Dragon Veldora, whom the goblins worshipped. This peace shattered when Veldora's aura vanished, leading to a direwolf attack a month later. During the attack, Rigurd's unnamed eldest son died protecting the village while delivering critical information about the direwolves.
Amidst this crisis, Rimuru arrived, defeated the direwolf leader, and named the surviving goblins, including Rigurd. This naming triggered Rigurd's evolution into a hobgoblin. He underwent a dramatic physical transformation: gaining a robust, muscular body comparable to a large human, an increased lifespan, fully open eyes, and independence from his walking stick. Rigurd frequently expressed gratitude for his rejuvenated physique, often flexing his muscles. His prior speech impediment vanished.
After evolving, Rigurd pledged unwavering loyalty to Rimuru. He was appointed Goblin King, overseeing daily operations in neighboring goblin villages, and briefly served as captain of the goblin riders before becoming Head of Security. As the Jura-Tempest Federation expanded, Rigurd was promoted to Prime Minister. In this role, he managed most internal affairs—excluding wartime operations—holding the highest authority after Rimuru. His responsibilities encompassed civil administration, citizenship matters, and overall supervision. Rigurd demonstrated natural charisma and diplomatic skill, traits Rimuru encouraged to enhance his governance.
Personality-wise, Rigurd typically presents a stoic demeanor but exhibits noticeable excitement around Rimuru. He enthusiastically organizes festivals and communal feasts. As a father, he expresses profound emotional pride in his second son, Rigur—named for his deceased elder brother—often becoming tearful to others' exasperation. He maintains perspective and humor during dire situations, ensuring others grasp appropriate responses. Despite his administrative focus, Rigurd possesses latent combat capabilities equivalent to an A-Rank adventurer. Instances like effortlessly throwing a 20-meter megalodon alongside Geld demonstrate his considerable strength, though he remains unaware of his full potential and laments his lack of training time due to his busy schedule.
