During this conflict, the direwolves encountered Rimuru Tempest, who defeated and absorbed Ranga's father. Ranga felt no resentment over his father's death, attributing it to his father's choices. Adhering to direwolf custom, he submitted to Rimuru as the strongest authority. Rimuru named him, evolving Ranga from a standard direwolf into a Tempest Wolf and cementing his loyalty.
