Description
Limule Tempest, originally known as Satoru Mikami, is the central protagonist of the series. Before reincarnation, Satoru was a 37-year-old human general contractor living in Japan. He met his end when he was fatally stabbed by a robber while protecting a coworker. Instead of dying, Satoru awakened in a dark cave in a fantasy world as a blue slime, one of the lowest-ranked monsters. He retained all his past-life memories and his original personality.
Upon awakening, Limule discovered two unique skills: Predator, which allowed him to absorb and replicate the abilities of anything he consumed, and Great Sage, an analytical intelligence that processed information and provided strategic advice. Exploring the cave, he encountered Veldora, a legendary Storm Dragon who had been sealed for three hundred years. The two formed a deep friendship. Limule gave Veldora the surname Tempest, and in return, Veldora gave Limule his name and a portion of his power. This naming ritual significantly boosted Limule’s magical energy and created a soul corridor between them.
Limule’s personality is a blend of easygoing, childish curiosity and sharp, calculating pragmatism. He is naturally a pacifist who prefers diplomacy and cooperation over violence. He values saving lives and maintaining harmony between monsters and humans. However, this pacifism is not naive; beneath his carefree exterior, he constantly analyzes situations, weighs risks, and plans for the long term. After undergoing the Harvest Festival to become an Awakened Demon Lord, a change occurred in his disposition. He became subtly more ruthless and comfortable with taking violent measures to protect his loved ones, though his core desire for peace remained.
His primary motivation is to build a nation where monsters and humans can coexist peacefully. He founded the Jura Tempest Federation, a country that welcomes all races. He also seeks to protect his friends and subjects, often placing their safety above his own. His leadership style is inclusive and pragmatic; he listens to advisors, delegates tasks, and uses his abilities to solve practical problems from infrastructure to diplomacy.
In the story, Limule serves as the founder and chancellor of the Jura Tempest Federation, later becoming one of the Eight Star Demon Lords known as the Octagram. His role evolves from a survivor in a strange world to a political leader, military commander, and eventually a world-altering figure. He is the main driver of the narrative, with most events revolving around his decisions and growth.
Key relationships include Veldora Tempest, his closest friend and partner, who provides power and companionship. Shion and Shuna are two of his most loyal subordinates: Shion acts as his secretary and bodyguard, while Shuna handles economic and domestic affairs. Benimaru becomes his military commander and one of his strongest fighters. The ogres, goblins, dwarves, and lizardmen all become subjects of his federation. He also forms alliances with human kingdoms such as Dwargon and Blumund, and later confronts enemies like the Kingdom of Falmuth and the demon lord Clayman.
Limule’s development is marked by several transformations. Initially a simple slime, he later gains a humanoid form after absorbing the hero Shizue Izawa. His most pivotal evolution occurs during the Harvest Festival, where he sacrifices ten thousand human souls to resurrect his fallen subjects and becomes a True Demon Lord. This evolution unlocks ultimate skills: Raphael, Lord of Wisdom (an evolved form of Great Sage), and Beelzebuth, Lord of Gluttony (an evolved form of Predator). Over time, Raphael further evolves into Manas Ciel, an autonomous will that acts as a true companion. Later, he gains additional ultimate skills such as Uriel and eventually Void God Azathoth.
Notable abilities include elemental magic, summoning of greater spirits and demons, infinite regeneration, universal shapeshift, physical attack nullification, and resistance to most abnormal conditions. His power set is highly versatile, allowing him to adapt to any situation through absorption, analysis, and creation of new skills. As the series progresses, he reaches a level of power that rivals true dragons and primordial deities, making him one of the most formidable beings in the world.
