Initially leading outlaws with latent honor, his personality transforms after encountering Rimuru Tempest. He reluctantly embodies a public heroic persona but privately favors casual interactions. A devoted family man, he cherishes his marriage and practices indulgent parenting. Despite doubting his innate kingliness, he instinctively leads through fierce loyalty, steadfast principles, and empathy for those under his protection. Imprisoned in Count Nidol Migam’s Territory within the Falmuth Kingdom, Youmu was forced to command the Frontier Expedition Force—thirty scouts monitoring the Orc Lord in the Great Jura Forest. He freed his group by intimidating overseer Rommel into dissolving their contract magic, later securing Rommel’s loyalty. During this mission, he discovered Tempest and met Rimuru, who sought to legitimize the monster settlement by having Youmu claim credit for defeating the Orc Lord. Hesitant at first, Youmu accepted after witnessing Tempest’s harmony, irrevocably altering his path. This alliance made him Rimuru’s secret vassal while publicly reigning as king.

His evolution shifts from survivalism toward pursuing meaningful experiences with allies. As monarch, he balances royal obligations with covert service to Tempest’s interests, advancing Rimuru’s objectives discreetly.
