Description
Saki Hanajima stands as one of Tohru Honda's closest friends. Her psychic abilities include sensing the emotional "waves" of others and projecting harmful electric waves. These powers emerged during childhood following severe bullying, notably an incident where classmates forced live newts into her mouth. This trauma triggered her abilities and caused a boy to collapse, leading to her social ostracization. Peers blamed her for misfortunes, labeling her a witch. In reaction, Saki adopted an all-black wardrobe and black nail polish as symbols of guilt, though she later developed a genuine fondness for the style.
Her family—parents, grandmother, and younger brother Megumi—provided unwavering support despite societal rejection. Megumi, who also developed psychic abilities to share her burden, prayed for someone to accept her. This prayer was answered when Tohru Honda and Arisa Uotani befriended Saki in high school.
