Description
The character officially named Dawn in Japanese and English releases, known as Maya in certain localizations, is one of Ash Ketchum's primary travel companions during their Sinnoh journey. An aspiring Pokémon Coordinator, Dawn first encounters Ash after accidentally colliding with Pikachu. Her personality blends optimism with occasional overconfidence about her coordinating skills. Following consecutive contest losses, she faces discouragement but regains her determination after winning the Wallace Cup, marking her growth. Dawn exhibits notable empathy for both humans and Pokémon, organizing cheerleading performances to support companions after defeats. A concern for personal presentation surfaces occasionally, such as adjusting her hairstyle before social interactions.

In *Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life*, Dawn accompanies Ash and Brock to Michina Town. She participates in a tag battle against residents Kiko and Kato, using Piplup alongside Ash's Pikachu to win. Later, she witnesses spatial distortions threatening Pikachu and Piplup and acts to protect them, observing Giratina's initial aggression towards Dialga. Dawn supports efforts to calm Giratina and joins the group transported back in time by Dialga to correct the historical betrayal of Arceus. During this journey, she helps thwart Marcus's scheme to assassinate Arceus.

This character also appears in the preceding films *Pokémon: The Rise of Darkrai* and *Pokémon: Giratina and the Sky Warrior*, though without detailed roles provided. A manga adaptation of *Arceus and the Jewel of Life* exists, but Dawn's portrayal within it remains unconfirmed. Information regarding appearances in spin-offs, OVAs, or other extended media beyond the core Diamond & Pearl series and its associated films is absent.
