Built using a reprogrammed Terminator processor as a "blank slate," she developed free will and chose her own identity, adopting the name "Misaki" — meaning "beautiful," "ocean," and "sand" — inspired by Japanese folklore about a guiding spirit. Her core aspiration evolved into creation and nurturing rather than destruction, contrasting with Skynet's directives.
Targeted for extermination by the Resistance as an aberration, Malcolm intervened violently to save her. They built a time displacement device and fled to 1983 Tokyo to prevent Judgment Day. Malcolm secured work at Cortex Industries to develop Kokoro, an AI designed to rival Skynet. Misaki sacrificed her original CPU to activate Kokoro, resulting in the complete erasure of her memories. Malcolm installed a new CPU into her existing body, creating the second iteration of Misaki.
