Description
Ayame Hayami is the only survivor of Kasumi village, annihilated by a three-headed demon sent by Oda Nobunaga. Her brother Shinnosuke sacrifices himself to secure her escape, entrusting her with the clan's mystical short sword, one of three enchanted weapons prophesied to destroy Nobunaga. Reborn as Ayanosuke, she transforms from a vibrant young woman into a warrior consumed by vengeance.
Her quest demands uniting the three mystical weapons – the short sword, sacred sword, and spear – held by surviving members of the Kasumi, Hyuga, and Hagakure clans. She forges an alliance with Sakon Hayate, the Hyuga survivor bearing the sacred sword, and Ryoma Kogure, the Hagakure heir wielding the spear. While rage initially drives her, bonds with her allies foster camaraderie and shared purpose, though her impulsiveness and volatility remain defining traits.
Ayame develops a close bond with Ryoma's younger sister, Kikyo Kogure, who offers crucial emotional support. Kikyo's death – shielding Ayame from an attack by Oboro ninja Jinnai Saegusa – deepens Ayame's trauma and ignites her resolve. She later witnesses Ryoma forced to kill Kayo Momochi, a kunoichi he loved, after her body is possessed by Oboro ninja Masago. These compounded losses steel her determination to confront Nobunaga.
Her combat relies on agility and strategic use of her kodachi. Her effectiveness significantly increases alongside Sakon and Ryoma, as their combined weapons unleash synergistic powers against demonic foes. Throughout their journey, they battle the seven Oboro ninja, supernatural enforcers serving Nobunaga and his advisor Ranmaru Mori. Ayame personally defeats Jinnai Saegusa, avenging Kikyo, and contributes crucially to victories against other Oboro members like Kiheiji and Genzo.
The final confrontation exposes Ranmaru as the true architect, manipulating Nobunaga and orchestrating the prophecy to harvest negative emotions, powering the weapons to summon a demonic entity. During the climactic battle at Azuchi Castle, Sakon and Ryoma sacrifice their lives to weaken the demon-possessed Nobunaga and Ranmaru. Ayame delivers the killing blow using the fully powered enchanted weapons, consummating the prophecy at the cost of her allies. She emerges as the lone survivor, having lost her family, allies, and original identity.
