Description
Miya was a human girl living in the village of Haraiso, a settlement built and guarded by the golem Lord Haraiso. Her life changed when a storm blew the witch Feodora Nebsolv off course, washing her ashore near the village. Miya and Lord Haraiso discovered and rescued the injured stranger.

The villagers brought Feodora in and tended to her wounds. Miya grew close to the witch, and the two formed a deep friendship. That bond was soon tested by the arrival of a monstrous being known as a Grotesque. Fearful of the unknown, the villagers attacked and killed the creature as it begged for mercy. This act of prejudiced violence horrified Feodora.

Fearing for her own life if her identity as a witch—a type of Grotesque—were revealed, Feodora tried to flee. Miya found her at their usual meeting place by a tree on the cliffs. When Miya urged her to return, Feodora asked whether they could still be friends if she were a monster. Miya replied that it wouldn’t matter, because Feodora was human—adding that people could not be friends with monsters. A sudden gust of wind then swept Miya off the edge.

To save her, Feodora revealed her true nature as a witch and used her magic to rescue Miya from the fall. This act exposed her as a Grotesque to the entire village. The hostile villagers turned on her with threats of violence, forcing Lord Haraiso to intervene. To protect Feodora, the golem banished her. As she departed, Miya broke through the crowd, crying out and calling Feodora her friend—showing that their bond outlasted the hatred of the adults.

The story of Miya and Feodora was later recorded by Feodora’s descendant, Isolde Nebsolv, in *The Chronicles of Haraiso*. Isolde believed her writings, published earlier than Feodora intended, contributed to humanity’s persecution and near-extinction. The chronicle stands as an account of the deep fear and prejudice humans held toward other species, which ultimately led to a great war and their downfall.
