Description
Ricky hails from the planet Rhodes in the Capricorn Zone. After gang members killed his parents, leaving him orphaned, he stowed away on the Crusher team's ship, the Minerva. His intelligence and technical aptitude earned him a permanent role as the crew's engineer. At fifteen, he is the team's youngest member.
As the Minerva's chief engineer, Ricky maintains and operates the ship's systems. His technical expertise and quick reflexes prove vital during missions, especially under pressure like mechanical failures or combat. He assists the team during a botched escort mission involving a cryogenically frozen heiress, which results in piracy accusations. His ingenuity is critical during pursuits, such as chasing space pirates on Lagol.
In combat, Ricky displays fearlessness despite his youth, often wielding weapons disproportionate to his size, including a shoulder-mounted assault cannon larger than himself. This highlights his adaptability and resourcefulness. His personality features a quick temper and impulsiveness, sometimes requiring restraint from the cyborg crew member Talos. During downtime, Ricky engages in sibling-like bickering with fellow crew member Alfin, reflecting their close but combative rapport.
His relationship with Talos extends beyond mentorship into a "Little Guy, Big Buddy" dynamic, particularly when isolated on missions. Ricky occasionally makes irreverent remarks towards Talos, like joking the cyborg only needs an oil change instead of rest during an OVA mission interruption in "The Ice Prison." In this OVA, Ricky's engineering skills are key in stabilizing a deteriorating asteroid prison. A comedic moment occurs when he accidentally pulls off Alfin’s bikini top during a beach scene.
Ricky’s integration establishes him within the crew's familial structure, sharing professional missions and casual interactions. His orphan and stowaway background underscores his reliance on the team for stability and purpose, though his independent streak shows in occasional defiance and eagerness to prove himself.
