ONA
Description
Io, a Puchidol, is a small, chibi-style creature based on the idol Iori Minase from the broader franchise. Io was discovered in Africa by the idol Miki Hoshii, who was offered the Puchidol by locals in exchange for an onigiri. This pattern of being adopted after being given food is similar to the discovery of another Puchidol named Chihyaa. Io's primary vocalizations are sounds such as Kii and Moh, which are typical of Puchidols as they communicate through limited, expressive squeaks rather than human language.

Io's personality is complex and layered, fitting a well-defined tsundere archetype. Outwardly, Io often acts reclusive, indifferent, or even threatening toward humans and other Puchidols. This behavior includes projecting a sharp, judgmental attitude. However, this guarded exterior masks a deep-seated loneliness and a secret, quiet craving for attention and connection. This pattern of behavior, where Io acts aloof but desires interaction, is amplified in the presence of water. She often serves as a quiet straight man to the antics of other Puchidols, preferring to listen to others talk rather than initiating conversation herself.

The central and most notable ability of Io is her power to fire a concentrated energy beam from her forehead. This laser is immensely powerful, strong enough to vaporize cockroaches, breach concrete walls, and cause significant collateral damage. The full extent of her power is first revealed during a cockroach infestation in the office; the insects were intelligent enough to form the word stupid, and Io's attempts to exterminate them caused nearly as much destruction as a flock of Harukasan, another Puchidol known for causing chaos. Her fear of cockroaches is a distinct trigger that causes her to fire her beam at full blast without regard for property damage or bystanders. While her initial aiming skills are poor, earning her a reputation for missing her intended targets, she later gains enough control over her ability to use her forehead as a reflector or a makeshift studio light source. She is also capable of a rapid-fire mode when frustrated. At her most enraged state, Io can enter a super mode where a holy halo appears above her head and she gains the ability to fly, though her aim becomes even less accurate.

Io's primary relationship is with her owner, Iori Minase, who serves as a mentor figure. Iori trained Io to fire her forehead beam on command, often using it to punish the Producer. Io is also seen carrying Iori's plush rabbit doll, which acts as a talisman that offers her solace and anchors her sense of identity. In terms of narrative role, Io is a living weapon whose powers are both a threat and a useful tool. Her abilities are often played for comedic effect, especially when contrasted with her quiet demeanor. There are implications that her power is dangerous on a massive scale, as it was mentioned that the tribe Io originally came from was found annihilated. Throughout the story, Io develops from having uncontrolled, destructive bursts of power to being able to harness her abilities for mundane, practical uses like lighting. Despite her development, vulnerabilities remain, such as losing control of her beam when sneezing due to a cold.
