TV-Series
Description
Azalie spent her early years in an orphanage alongside her distant relative Leticia and foster brother Krylancelo (later known as Orphen), assuming a maternal role for Krylancelo until around age eleven. Recognized for their potent magical abilities by Whurl Karlen, the trio was brought to the Tower of Fang and placed in Childman Powderfield's class. Azalie quickly distinguished herself as the strongest among Childman's seven students, receiving special assignments to study Nornir legacies under his tutelage.
Her personality blended formidable intellect with a fiercely competitive drive for power and knowledge. She often provoked reactions, particularly from Leticia, sparking explosive conflicts. This competitive streak morphed into a dangerous obsession after Childman rejected her romantic feelings, intensifying her fixation on mastering forbidden magic to surpass him. Despite outward antagonism, she retained protective instincts, especially evident in her childhood bond with Krylancelo.
A pivotal moment occurred upon rediscovering the Sword of Baltanders, an ancient artifact she and Krylancelo had previously recovered. Driven by obsession, she attempted to harness its power but lost control during the ritual. The sword's magic inflicted agonizing pain, transforming her into the draconic entity Bloody August. The Tower of Fang declared her dead, held a funeral with an empty casket, and initiated a hunt to eliminate the creature, asserting no trace of Azalie's humanity remained.
As Bloody August, she terrorized regions for five years, including attacks on the Everlasting household in Totokanta to reclaim the sword. Childman organized a hunting party, including Orphen, to destroy her. During the confrontation, Azalie employed her white magic to swap bodies with Childman, manipulating events from his form. After the dragon's physical form was slain, she revealed the body-swap to Orphen. Offered a chance to return to her original form using the sword, she chose humanity but faced Orphen's rejection and declaration that he never wished to see her again.
Despite this rejection, Azalie observed Orphen's journey via astral projection. In Alenhatam, witnessing events involving a Killing Doll (a Nornir relic), she used acquired knowledge to activate another. This doll revealed secrets about dragons and guided her to recover the Sword of Baltanders. She used the sword to transform the doll into a devoted 15-year-old version of Krylancelo, later sending this construct to warn Orphen about Tower of Fang unrest, triggering violent confrontations.
Her actions escalated as she manipulated Orphen into confronting the Whurl Class. She intervened to save Leticia from Whurl students, recognizing this would force broader conflict. After Orphen defeated Whurl Karlen, she erased memories of her survival from Whurl and his students to protect her plans. Discovering Orphen had substituted the real World Book with Cleao's diary, she demanded its return before departing for Kimluck, instructing Orphen to find her there if he sought reunion.
Azalie's skills centered on exceptional mastery of both black and white magic. Her white magic specialized in mental and spiritual attacks: illusions, soul transference enabling body swapping, and astral projection facilitating mind control and remote observation. Proficient in physical combat, she could match opponents single-handedly and demonstrated lethal efficiency, such as slaughtering over sixty dog monsters at Kamisunda Theater to protect sleeping companions.
Her later activities included hiring Vulcan and Dortin to travel to Kimluck, obtaining the World Book from them during the journey. Throughout her schemes, she maintained a "kill or be killed" philosophy forged during her fugitive years, justifying violence as necessary survival. However, she expressed fear of Orphen's assassination training and occasional regret over collateral damage, claiming her actions ultimately helped others despite the pain caused.
