Description
Cleao Everlasting is a central figure in Sorcerous Stabber Orphen, recognized as the youngest daughter of the noble Everlasting family from the city of Totokanta. She is a teenage girl with fair skin, long blonde hair, and pale blue eyes, often identified by her disheveled bangs and two distinctive twirled locks of hair on each side of her head. Her appearance varies across adaptations, ranging from a long blue dress in earlier productions to a more practical outfit of a white long-sleeved shirt, blue jeans secured with a brown belt, and brown shoes in later versions.

A sheltered upbringing within her noble household initially defined Cleao’s worldview, but beneath her privileged exterior lies a deep-seated yearning for adventure beyond the confines of her family estate. Having switched schools annually and participated in a war club to learn basic sword skills, she grew restless with a life she found unfulfilling. Her personality is a blend of carefree confidence and stubborn pride; she enjoys teasing others and rarely admits when she is wrong, which frequently causes her to clash with the sorcerer Orphen. While she can initially come across as bratty or selfish, Cleao possesses genuine bravery, a kind heart, and an unusual fascination with sorcery that stands in contrast to the fear the mystical arts might inspire in others.

Cleao's journey begins not merely by chance but through her own determined orchestration. When Orphen arrives at her home seeking a magical sword, she is filled with excitement at the prospect of adventure. Secretly aided by her mother, she sneaks into the carriage provided to Orphen and insists on accompanying him, claiming she must protect her inheritance—the Sword of Baltanders, which was given to her by her late father in some versions of the story. Her primary motivation evolves from a simple desire for excitement into a heartfelt goal to become Orphen's reliable partner. Throughout her travels, she struggles with a significant internal conflict: as the only member of the group unable to use sorcery, she often fears being seen as a burden or a child who needs protection rather than a valuable contributor. This insecurity drives her to push her own limits and do everything in her power to prove her worth.

Her role in the story is cemented by her key relationships and personal growth. Her bond with Orphen begins with constant bickering but develops into deep mutual respect, and eventually, marriage. They later settle on the Hara continent, where they found the Swedenborge School of Sorcery and have three daughters named Ratsbane, Edge, and Ratchet. Her relationship with her young apprentice companion, Majic, is also notable; she has been known to repurpose his clothes to fit herself and use him as a test subject for pranks intended for Orphen.

A pivotal point in Cleao's development occurs when she encounters a small black puppy in the Fenrir Forest, which is actually a Deep Dragon child she later names Leki. During a confrontation with the dragon Asraliel, Cleao erupts in anger at the mother for endangering her own child, prompting Leki to act and force the dragons to retreat. After this event, Leki chooses to remain at Cleao's side as her constant companion and familiar. This relationship unlocks Cleao’s latent potential, as she unknowingly channels her significant but dormant magical capacity through Leki as a medium. Their empathetic and telepathic link proves to be so strong that when Leki merges his mind with hers, it fully unlocks her magical abilities. To develop these newfound powers, she undergoes formal training under the sorceress Leticia, achieving competence within a year.

In terms of notable abilities, Cleao is remarkably athletic and a skilled fencer, capable of holding her own against formidable opponents such as Hartia in single combat and even toppling a golem with a single kick. She initially wielded a lightweight sword from her father’s collection, though this weapon was eventually lost. In her travels, she also becomes proficient with firearms due to training received at the Tower of Fang. Her character arc transforms her from a sheltered, sometimes impetuous noble girl into a resilient adventurer and a powerful sorceress in her own right, proving that her value comes not from her noble bloodline but from her courage, loyalty, and unwavering determination.
