Description
Akira is a cheerful, friendly, and loyal man with brown hair that sticks up in a tuft in the front and black eyes. He typically wears a black hoodie with a front pocket, white trim around the pocket, white stripes on the sleeves featuring a green stripe down the middle, paired with black pants. Following the destruction of the Tower of Babel, his head became detached from his body and is now displayed on a wearable TV monitor. He serves as one of two subordinates to Dr. Karigari, alongside Yusuke, with whom he shares a very close bond and is always seen together; Akira affectionately calls Yusuke “Bro.” While he does not necessarily share Karigari’s desire for revenge against the Mobile Rescue Police, he supports Karigari regardless of circumstances. Akira has a foolish nature and sometimes does foolish things, such as attempting to blow clouds away with fans. He maintains a friendly relationship with television announcer Yuri Sasagawa. Over the course of the story, Akira assists in schemes including bank robberies, sabotaging the Mobile Rescue Police, piloting a Walker Vehicle, hijacking the Weather Science Integration Research Lab while disguised as an alien, and delivering a critical counter-virus chip to Sasagawa. During the Tower of Babel incident, he and Yusuke accompany Karigari in a Drive Head to contain the Evil AI’s energy, surviving the explosion but concealing their survival. Later, they work covertly against Terra, the android embodiment of the Evil AI, helping capture and modify the Cyclone Interceptor for the fight. After Terra’s defeat, Karigari promises to restore Akira’s head to its original state, resolving the TV monitor’s malfunctions. Akira does not appear in the 2018 web series.
