Description
Elaine, a Pokémon trainer from Pallet Town in Kanto, begins her journey after a vision prompts her departure. Professor Oak provides her initial partner Pokémon, either Eevee or Pikachu, and helps her capture it when the chosen Pokémon appears near Pallet Town.

Her quest focuses on completing the comprehensive Kanto Pokédex. This journey involves challenging and defeating Gym Leaders, battling the criminal organization Team Rocket, and ultimately claiming victory as the Indigo League Champion by overcoming her rival, Trace. She also encounters and defeats established trainers like Red, Blue, and Green during her travels.

In the animated episode "The Discovery," Elaine achieves a significant milestone by capturing Mewtwo within Cerulean Cave, accomplishing this before her rivals Green and Trace, who were simultaneously searching for it to complete their Pokédex. Green challenges Elaine to a battle specifically to witness Mewtwo in combat but is defeated.

Following this capture, Professor Oak reveals that Elaine, Green, and Trace were collectively contributing to the Pokédex completion effort. Elaine's capture of Mewtwo marked the initial documentation of the 150th Pokémon, though Oak simultaneously announces the discovery of Steel-type Pokémon, indicating the Pokédex project continues.

Beyond her core quest, Elaine enjoys leisurely walks with her partner Eevee. This Eevee possesses the unique ability to use Secret Techniques, moves typically employed for field navigation rather than battle. She later investigates rumors of a talking Eevee on Pasio, partnering with a trainer named Eve who wears an Eevee costume during this investigation.

Her known Pokémon partners include Eevee (or Pikachu), Venusaur, Blaziken, Gyarados, Salamence, Alolan Raichu, and Mewtwo. She carries standard trainer equipment: a Pokédex, Mega Ring, Fishing Rod, and Guide Book.
