Description
Formed millennia ago as "Myst," this spectral entity coalesced from the accumulated hatred and spirits of darklings and dragons during their ancient Underworld conflicts. A wraith-like mass of Dark Aura, he requires physical vessels to sustain his existence. Recruited by the Dark King Vearn after the monarch split his own body—one half retaining intellect and magic, the other a vessel of pure physical strength frozen in time by a solar eclipse—Myst was entrusted with possessing and safeguarding Vearn's frozen youthful form. Adopting the name "Mystvearn" to signify this duty, this symbiotic arrangement granted Vearn immortality, dependent on the destruction of both halves, while providing Mystvearn purpose through service.
Shrouded within the Shadow Raiment, a hooded white cloak, Mystvearn typically conceals his form. Only his glowing yellow eyes and a single luminous orb within his torso pierce the obscurity. The robe features a red pelerine bearing Vearn's insignia, complemented by metallic gauntlets and sabatons. Forced removal reveals the possessed vessel: Vearn's youthful, silver-haired demonic body, eyes perpetually closed, marked by a horn-like shadow crest on the forehead signifying Mystvearn's presence. Fully removing the cloak unveils his true essence—a formless dark entity adorned with yellow torso markings and eyes burning with red pupils.
Cold, silent ruthlessness defines Mystvearn, matched only by his unwavering devotion to Vearn. He acts primarily through gestures, eliminating any who see his face to protect Vearn's secret. Beneath this exterior lies deep envy toward beings who grow stronger through effort; his parasitic nature confines him to stealing strength via possession. He respects raw courage and determination, evident in his admiration for Hadlar's resolve and his mentorship of Hyunckel, though he views surface-world beings with contempt. Cowardice and treachery earn his utter disdain, as shown when threatening Zaboera for insulting Hadlar.
His power flows from Dark Aura manipulation. Key techniques include Dark Puppetry Aura Hand (controlling opponents via strings), Dark Aura Decimation Field (a trapping web), and Byut Deathstringer (spear-like projections from his fingers). Possessing Vearn's time-frozen body grants near-invincibility—wounds vanish instantly—and access to Vearn's immense physical prowess, enabling feats like shattering orichalcum. He regenerates rapidly and teleports seamlessly. Light Aura remains his primary weakness, capable of expelling him from hosts.
Across millennia, he served as Vearn's shadow vizier, commanding phantom legions and guarding the secret of Vearn's split form. Centuries ago, he confronted the defecting blacksmith Lon Beruk, who warned their next clash would be fatal. A decade before the main story, he rescued the orphaned Hyunckel after Avan defeated Hadlar, training the boy in Dark Aura to mold him as a future vessel. As one of the Six Legion Commanders during the Dark Army's campaigns, he orchestrated attacks like the Valge Island ambush where he nearly killed Dai. He later manipulated Flazzard into testing Dai with a Dead Armor before executing the outlived commander.
At Papnica's Royal Summit, he piloted the Sovereign Rock Castle, battling Hyunckel and revealing his former pupil's defection had stripped him of a mixed Light-Dark Aura advantage. Forced to unveil his face, he unleashed full power, only for Dai to destroy the fortress core. In the Field of Death, he joined Vearn's stand against the heroes. Following Vearn's defeat, he attempted to merge with the Dark King's remains but was expelled by Dai's Light Aura-infused strike, disintegrating while affirming his eternal loyalty.
