TV-Series
Description
Jyūbei operates Shikabaneya, a feudal-era shop dealing in corpses and demon parts. He bears a distinctive scar across his right eyebrow and eye, sporting slick brown hair parted in the back, a mustache, and a beard. His personality is marked by greed and stinginess, particularly evident in his dealings with the bounty hunter Moroha, to whom he gives only a small portion of her earnings, keeping the majority. However, he maintains polite and respectful behavior toward his best customer, Riku, serving him loyally without knowing Riku is an incarnation of Kirinmaru.

Raised by the monk Miroku to care for the young raccoon dog demon Takechiyo after Takechiyo was cursed by Shōgen Mamiana, Jyūbei put the boy to work on errands and assigned him to watch over Moroha. Eleven years after meeting Takechiyo, Jyūbei encountered his friend, the wolf yōkai Yawaragi, during a sugoroku game, leading him to recruit Moroha as a bounty hunter. He previously possessed the Green Rainbow Pearl, which attracted demon bounties and brought unusual luck, enabling him to expand his operations before losing it.

Jyūbei purchased Moroha from Yawaragi for 15 ryou to settle Yawaragi's gambling debts, armor removal costs, and sugoroku losses. This transaction bound Moroha to work for him as a bounty hunter to repay the debt. Throughout her bounty-hunting activities, Jyūbei assigns her targets like the corpse of Tōkotsu, withholding payment for insufficient proof of completion. While acknowledging her skills, he directs her toward other targets to manage potential risks. This arrangement continues until Moroha's parents, Inuyasha and Kagome, return; Kagome reacts angrily upon discovering Jyūbei sold her daughter.

Jyūbei also interacts with Sesshōmaru's daughters, Towa and Setsuna. He identifies Setsuna's Blood Blade ability as a manifestation of her demon heritage, though he admits never witnessing such powers firsthand. His role includes providing context or guidance, such as supplying a branch infused with the scent of the antagonist Zero to facilitate the trio's efforts to locate her.
