Description
Dread is a dog who serves as a supporting character and a father figure within the narrative of Little Charo 2. Prior to the events of the story, Dread resided in New York, where he was the first to help the protagonist Charo when the young dog became lost in the city. This established a prior connection between the two characters, which becomes the foundation for their later relationship in the Middle World.

In terms of personality, Dread is characterized as a dog of few words. He is stoic, protective, and capable, acting decisively in dangerous situations. When he encounters Charo again in the Lost Forest, he immediately intervenes to save him from a giant eagle and then from a falling boulder, showing his instinctive protective nature. Despite his gruff exterior, he possesses a deep well of emotion tied to his past. He is also shown to be a patient and understanding listener, allowing Charo to share his thoughts about family while being initially reserved about his own history.

Dreads primary motivation is rooted in profound personal loss. He wanders the Middle World because of the shock and regret he felt following the death of his son, Bell. The tragedy happened about a year before he reunited with Charo in New York. This loss defines his existence, driving him to wander in the liminal space of the Middle World, seemingly unable or unwilling to move on. His role in the story is intrinsically linked to Charo. He becomes a guardian and guide, taking care of the young dog once again as Charo searches for the human boy Shota. Through this relationship, Dread finds an opportunity to share his painful past and perhaps begin to process his grief.

The central relationship in Dreads storyline is with Charo. Their bond is rekindled in the Lost Forest, where Dread saves Charo and agrees to help him navigate the dangerous environment. This partnership allows for a key moment of development for Dread. In a significant turning point, after listening to Charo ponder the meaning of family and his wish to meet his parents, Dread opens up about a subject he had never mentioned before: his son. He reveals the story of Bell's death and admits that his grief is the reason he is wandering the Middle World. This confession marks a crucial step in his character arc, showing a willingness to confront his trauma through his connection with Charo.

Regarding notable abilities, Dread is a capable fighter. He is swift and strong enough to jump at a large attacking eagle, startling the predator and driving it away. He also possesses incredible agility and speed, as he is able to knock Charo out of the path of a falling rock just in time. His experience navigating the dangerous landscapes of the Middle World, such as the Lost Forest, also highlights his survival skills and his role as a knowledgeable protector.
