Description
Praline works as a witch alongside her younger sister Hazel at the Witches' Crest Library. She has a thin build, pale skin, and short light orange hair styled in a pixie cut, with bangs covering the right side of her face. Her large amber eyes feature eyelashes matching her hair color. Her typical attire includes a blue blazer worn slightly off the shoulders with a broad white collar and cuffs, gold zipper details, and elbow-length sleeves, layered over a black long-sleeved shirt. She pairs this with blue shorts and a golden necklace bearing three dangling rings.
Praline exhibits a laid-back, carefree personality, often neglecting library duties like reshelving books to retreat to the basement for reading and snacking, cementing her bookworm reputation. Her habit of borrowing books without returning them frustrates Hazel, who considers it theft. Despite her casual disregard for rules, Praline displays curiosity and enthusiasm, especially towards new visitors. She proves more extroverted than her sister, readily engaging with others like Golem.
Her key role emerges when assisting Golem and Somali in their search for *The Chronicles of Haraiso*. Found surrounded by books and cake in her cluttered room, Praline agrees to help after Hazel chides her overenthusiasm. Her haphazard search method involves carelessly tossing books aside, further exasperating Hazel. Somali eventually locates the chronicles, but their discovery triggers an attack by Pescafish—skeletal book-eating fish. Praline and Hazel defend using magic wands, conjuring identical birds that strike the fish at close range. When a larger Pescafish threatens Somali, destroys the chronicles, and wounds Golem, Praline witnesses his sacrifice. Moved by Somali's distress, she reluctantly lends her personal special book. This book contains a secret map enabling navigation through library shortcuts to find the head librarian, the chronicles' last known reader.
Praline shares a close yet occasionally strained relationship with Hazel, whose responsible, rule-abiding nature contrasts her own. Hazel frequently reminds Praline about protocols and guests. Despite friction, they cooperate effectively, like during the Pescafish attack. Praline’s special book grants access to restricted information and hidden passages, allowing her to bypass Hazel’s oversight.
Later, she and Hazel appear outside the library, hands clasped in prayer following Isolde Nebsolv's death.
