Dragon, once called Tatsu, transformed into a dragon as punishment for prioritizing her pregnancy needs over village duties. While pregnant with her son Taro, she consumed every fish she caught to quell intense hunger, sharing none with the community. This perceived selfishness invoked a curse that reshaped her into a dragon.
After her transformation, she lived alone at the bottom of a distant lake, severed from Taro and her village. Her draconic state embodied the cost of forsaking collective welfare.
When Taro found her, she confessed the reason for her metamorphosis, expressing regret yet underscoring her pregnancy-driven desperation. During their meeting, Taro suggested destroying a dam restraining the lake to flood parched lowlands for struggling villages. Dragon joined the endeavor, using her body to break the barrier despite severe physical strain. The dam shattered successfully, draining the lake and seemingly killing her from the effort.
Her sacrifice, however, brought prosperity to the region and lifted the curse. She returned to human form, restored to life as the newly fertile lands enabled bountiful harvests for the communities Taro helped.
