Virgo Shaka guards the sixth temple in Athena's Sanctuary. Holding the title "the man closest to a god" due to immense cosmic power and spiritual enlightenment, he exists uniquely between humanity and divinity as the reincarnation of Buddha. His childhood in India involved daily meditation beside the Ganges River, confronting human suffering and mortality. Buddha's teachings guided him to understand death as a transition, shaping his detached perspective on human emotions. During the Hades arc, Shaka confronts the resurrected Gold Saints—Gemini Saga, Aquarius Camus, and Capricorn Shura—returned as Hades' specters. He transports them to the Twin Sala Trees garden near his temple. Recognizing their true mission to infiltrate the Underworld for Athena, Shaka orchestrates his own sacrifice. He provokes them into unleashing the forbidden Athena Exclamation, annihilating his physical form. This act allows his spirit to achieve liberation through the Eighth Sense (Arayashiki), enabling his consciousness to transcend death and journey to the Underworld. In the *Inferno* chapter, Shaka's spirit accompanies Athena into the Underworld's depths. His objective shifts to confronting Hades directly. At Hades' castle, he assaults the deity and demonstrates unwavering loyalty by rejecting Pandora's offer to stab Athena. Later, his spiritual form joins the collective effort of the twelve Gold Saints. Their combined cosmos breaches the Wailing Wall, the barrier separating the Underworld from Elysium, enabling the Bronze Saints to advance. Shaka's legacy extends beyond his physical existence. In the canonical sequel *Next Dimension*, set during the 18th-century Holy War, his predecessor Virgo Shijima acknowledges Shaka as the most powerful Virgo Gold Saint. Shaka's spirit briefly manifests to aid Andromeda Shun, confirming Shun as his designated successor to the Virgo Gold Cloth. Across all media, his mastery of Buddhist-inspired techniques remains consistent, including the Tenbu Hōrin (Treasures of Heaven) to sever opponents' senses and the Tenma Kōfuku (Demon Pacifier) for cosmic annihilation.
