Description
Gray Michael Vincent stands as both friend and rival to Yamato. Raised with his twin sister Liena, he wields exceptional B-Daman skill, initially mastering Chrome Zephyr. When the Shadow Alliance captures Liena, Gray is driven to infiltrate their ranks, forcing him into morally gray choices; he betrays Yamato's trust temporarily while secretly gathering intelligence to save her.
To ensure Liena's safety under the Shadow Alliance's control, Gray reluctantly competes for them in the Winners Tournament. He achieves a perfect score in the "Shoot the Gap" challenge and advances through matches, defeating Mickey Mookers in the semi-final qualifiers. Despite his apparent loyalty, he covertly aids Yamato, securing parts to repair Terry's Wing Ninja and subtly undermining Shadow Alliance members during battles.
The conflict between his mission and his friendship peaks in the Elite Eight Semi Finals against Yamato. Gray trains intensely for their rematch on a treacherous battlefield with backward-moving tracks and spikes. During the battle, he pressures Yamato to fight seriously, confronting their fractured bond. Though Yamato wins the final round, the confrontation resolves their conflict, allowing Gray to rejoin Yamato's group as a trusted ally.
Gray's commitment to rescuing Liena remains absolute. When Terry battles the masked "Sigma," revealing her as Liena, Gray confronts her only to discover she is brainwashed and denies knowing him. After Yamato defeats her, breaking the mind control, Gray and Liena share an emotional reunion. They return to their hometown, Wintune, finding it destroyed by the Shadow Alliance's Longhorn Brothers.
Facing threats against his rebuilt community in Cowtune, Gray battles the Longhorn Brothers. His original Chrome Zephyr is destroyed by News during this fight. Bull intervenes, providing the upgraded Chrome Raven. Wielding this new B-Daman, Gray assists Yamato in defeating the Longhorn Brothers and Salz, freeing captured villagers. This victory prompts the formation of the Neo Shadow Alliance under Marda B.
Gray later joins the campaign against the Neo Shadow Alliance. Journeying west with Yamato's group, they encounter allies like Captain Fin. Gray battles Captain Fin's son, Fin Junior, corrupted by Marda B. Utilizing wind-based tactics, Gray defeats Junior despite cheating attempts, freeing him from Marda B's influence. Gray also faces Cain McDonnell during the assault on Marda B's stronghold, resulting in a stalemate.
Personality-wise, Gray maintains a calm, analytical demeanor, serving as the strategic mind among Yamato's allies. He rarely shows open anger but becomes visibly distressed when Liena is endangered or his capabilities are questioned, as when Bull suggests Chrome Zephyr is inadequate. His protective instincts toward Liena are pronounced, sometimes manifesting as overbearing concern. He possesses green eyes, blonde hair, and distinctive attire including a wizard hat with a red bandanna and a matching cloak.
His B-Daman evolves throughout his journey. After Chrome Zephyr's destruction, he uses Chrome Raven, later upgraded to Chrome Raven Cyclone, Chrome Harrier, and finally Chrome Windrush Harrier (also known as Chrome Lancer). His signature technique is the Speed Shot.
