Description
Sophie, a Japanese-American transfer student, enters the main group of witch apprentices in the third season. Previously residing in New York City, she trained under a mentor until tragedy struck—her mentor's death caused Sophie to lose her magical abilities and abandon training, overwhelmed by grief. Relocating to Japan, she faces cultural adaptation and language barriers, sparking misunderstandings and friction with the established apprentices. Her defensive behavior stems from isolation and loss. Gradually, she bonds with Doremi Harukaze over shared enthusiasm for sweets; Doremi recognizes Sophie's underlying kindness, facilitating her acceptance into the group. The Witch Queen reinstates Sophie as a witch apprentice, granting her a second chance.

Her overseas background shapes her perspective and skills, particularly excelling in patisserie. She introduces innovative baking techniques to the transformed sweets shop where the apprentices work. Sophie overcomes trauma through teamwork during their effort to cure Hana-chan's vegetable-hating curse. An episode explores her emotional vulnerability through cherished earrings tied to her New York past and late mentor.

After the group relinquishes their magic, Sophie pursues a culinary career. Later light novel continuations reveal her operating a successful cake shop in New York. She visits Japan for a reunion, maintaining friendships across the distance. Sophie's fairy companion is Rere, her magical theme color yellow, and her transformation phrase "Royal Patraine Pirika Patraine!".
