Description
Sho, older brother to Eiji Shinjo, trained both Eiji and Kayin Amoh in swordsmanship during their youth. He vanished unexpectedly once he judged their skills sufficient for independence, adopting the alias "The Stranger" to travel the world seeking worthy opponents. Learning of Eiji's entry into the Battle Arena Toshinden tournament, Sho observed from afar as Eiji reached the finals against Gaia. During this period, he met and fell in love with Cupido, a servant of the Secret Society's leader, Master, resulting in the birth of their son, Subaru.

Sho entered the second tournament to assess Eiji's progress, defeating the shrouded warrior Vermilion. He then infiltrated the Secret Society's compound to eliminate Uranus and Master as retribution for creating clones based on him. In the third tournament, Sho confronted Eiji directly and was defeated. Witnessing Eiji's growth as a warrior and individual, and acknowledging his role in dismantling the Secret Society with allies, Sho entrusted Subaru to Eiji's care. He requested Eiji raise and train the boy as he himself had once trained Eiji, before resuming his solitary travels seeking adversaries.

Events following the third tournament imply a possible demise, as Sho manifests only as a spectral presence or a glowing orb of light formed by the Four Sacred Arms during Subaru's journey in the fourth tournament. In this form, he expresses pride in Subaru's developing abilities and offers advice before vanishing. He is later glimpsed in the reflection of Eiji's katana. Eiji also adopts attire identical to Sho's primary costume as an alternate outfit.

Physically, Sho possesses long maroon hair styled in a low ponytail with distinctive dolphin-tail ends and single long fringes framing each side of his face, complemented by purple eyes. His typical attire consists of a gold and red sleeveless tunic featuring a large purple hood at the center, secured by a gold sash. Underneath, he wears a black and golden-yellow short-sleeved shirt with gold shoulder bands, black pants, and brown thigh-high boots fastened with two silver straps on each side, along with brown bracelets or fingerless gloves extending to his forearms. Alternate appearances include a design with pale skin, silver-gray hair, a blue hood, and gray tunic, gloves, and boots, as well as an outfit inspired by his OVA depiction featuring a red long-sleeved tunic shirt with a red-orange sash, black pants, black boots, and black ninja armguards.

His combat style incorporates elements from both Eiji and Kayin, though his attacks inflict greater damage, and he exhibits enhanced speed in later appearances. Signature techniques include "Rekkuzan" (launching dark purple fire projectiles with his katana), "Shishouzan" (a diagonal rising dash attack), "Mokurowari" (a somersaulting downward slash generating an energy geyser upon impact), "Invisible Shishouzan" (turning invisible to execute a surprise Hishouzan), and "Scottish Moon" (a somersault kick that can emit dark purple projectiles mid-air). Special maneuvers encompass "Jigokumon" (a five-hit rush attack activated when his Overdrive meter is full), "Double Rekkuzan" (launching two large dark purple fire projectiles), "Plasma Vortex" (creating purple electrical energy that drains his health), and the self-sacrificial "Harakiri." His desperation move, "Byakki Mosyuken," unleashes multiple slashes followed by a punch, headbutt, and Shishouzan when his health is critically low.

In the non-canonical OVA narrative, Sho is targeted by the Secret Society, which deploys machine replicas modeled after him to hunt tournament fighters. The real Sho confronts and destroys the primary cloning facility, defying Uranus. He survives the base's destruction and silently observes Eiji's progress from a distance.
