TV Special
Description
Dororo, originally named Zeroro, is a 55.5-centimeter-tall light blue Keronian with a light pink afro and red shuriken markings on his forehead. Born into wealth, he was a shy, weak child who cried easily and struggled to make friends due to frequent school transfers. His childhood changed when Keroro befriended him, though Keroro often exploited his vulnerability, causing lasting trauma. Despite this, Keroro's offhand praise inspired Zeroro to join the Keron Army and train as an assassin.

He graduated from the Keron Military Academy as a lance corporal and joined the elite X1 assassin corps under Jirara. Achieving the rank of top assassin, he was denied the title of Master Assassin because his kindhearted nature and growing fame violated the role's required anonymity. During this time, he sparred with Zoruru, who resented him for surpassing him in rank and overlooking a childhood connection.

Assigned to the Keroro Platoon for the mission to invade Earth ("Pekopon"), Zeroro was separated upon arrival and trapped in a bear trap. Believing himself abandoned, he resigned to death until rescued by the kunoichi Koyuki Azumaya (and her dog Zeroyasha in the anime). This rescue led him to reject his violent past; he renamed himself Dororo, joined a ninja village, and swore to protect Earth. After the village disbanded, he moved to the city with Koyuki, dedicating himself to neutralizing malicious aliens peacefully.

Reuniting with the Keroro Platoon, Dororo responded coldly and violently due to lingering resentment over his abandonment. Observing the platoon's bond with humans softened his stance, leading to gradual reconciliation and a reaffirmed friendship. He maintains a pacifist ethos, refusing missions harming innocents and prioritizing meditation, nature, and training. While he participates in non-violent platoon activities, his low assertiveness often causes him to be overlooked, leading him to sulk when ignored.

Dororo possesses exceptional combat abilities, capable of neutralizing planetary-scale threats and excelling in espionage due to near-invisibility. He channels assassin magic and ninjutsu to manipulate elements and is adept with mecha, particularly his specialized robot. Emotionally volatile, painful memories trigger a "trauma switch" rendering him catatonic yet paradoxically invulnerable, and his overly earnest personality sometimes veers into foolishness. He retains a childlike sensitivity, crying easily and laughing at unfunny jokes.

His relationships reflect duality: he respects Keroro as his first friend yet resents past mistreatment; he shares a close bond with Giroro but faults his childhood inaction; he reveres Koyuki as his savior and closest companion; and he maintains a distant, professional dynamic with Kururu, admiring mutual skills despite clashing values. The prequel special *KeroZero: Shuppatsu da yo! Zen'in Shūgō!* depicts him as Zeroro during the platoon's departure from Keron, defending a space station against aliens, contextualizing his early military role before his Earth transformation.
