TV-Series
Description
Ise is a Shōjō, an orangutan-like ayakashi serving as the second shikigami to Aoi Nanamori, guardian of Momochi House. As the youngest of his species, he defied tribal laws by unleashing fire powers into the human world, earning a cursed collar that would annihilate his body for further violations. Though initially haughty and solitary, he forged a deep bond with a Dog Ayakashi—his first friend. When this friend faced peril, Ise shattered tribal laws to rescue him, activating the collar’s curse. Aoi intervened, binding Ise as his shikigami to dissolve the curse and spare his life, cementing Ise’s fierce loyalty despite his enduring grumpy and irritable nature.

Before his shikigami bond, Ise relished observing humans and pulling playful pranks. Now guarding Momochi House, he aids in defending the human-spirit realm boundary. His short temper fuels constant clashes with Kasha, a troublesome rival ayakashi. Yet beneath his abrasive exterior lies profound loyalty, demonstrated when confronting threats like Nachi Takamura or journeying to the spirit realm to purify corruption or recover lost memories. His fire abilities remain vital to the household’s protection.

In the sequel *Succession*, Ise persists at the rebuilt Momochi House alongside Aoi, Himari Momochi, and Yukari—Aoi’s first shikigami. He upholds his duties in managing supernatural disturbances and navigating the human-spirit boundary dynamics, signaling his ongoing evolution within the household’s structure.
