Description
Shin Ichijō is a male student at Edel Rose Academy, sporting short navy blue hair, red eyes, and standing 168 cm tall. Born on February 29, his birthday shares a date with Louis Kisaragi's, yet symbolically doesn't exist on the calendar as 2001 wasn't a leap year. His name "Shin" (新), meaning "new," reflects his status as a newcomer to both Edel Rose and the world of Prism Stars. He enrolled specifically to follow in the footsteps of his idol, Hiro Hayami, aspiring to become a Prism Star himself. Shin radiates a cheerful, optimistic, and genuine personality, naturally spreading joy through his performances. He shows respect for authority, listens well, and expresses his emotions openly.

His journey ignited on Tanabata Day (July 7) when an encounter with Louis Kisaragi gifted him a pendant and a ticket to Over the Rainbow's live show, sparking his passion for Prism Shows. After witnessing the performance, an attempt at a Prism Jump on his bicycle led to a fall. He was aided by Himuro Hijiri, who recruited him for Edel Rose. During his early days there, Shin met Over the Rainbow (Kōji, Hiro, and Kazuki), who recognized his potential and entrusted him with revitalizing Edel Rose's unity. Following a Prism Battle, Kōji Mihama gifted him the song "Over the Sunshine," tasking him with restoring smiles after Over the Rainbow's hiatus.

A supernatural element defines Shin: the destructive Prism Messenger Shine resides within him, serving as the source of his Prism Sparkle. Sealed inside Shin a millennium ago by Rinne (Louis's true form), Shine's power is essential for Shin to perform Prism Jumps. However, Shine's occasional possession causes memory lapses and behavioral shifts, marked by Shin's left eye turning gold and a dark crescent moon symbol appearing on his neck – a mark originating when Louis stabbed him during a joint Prism Show, mirroring Shine's ancient wound. In *Shiny Seven Stars*, these unexplained changes culminate in the episode "SIN," where Shine's influence fully manifests. Louis, having crossed a millennium to meet Shin, refrains from killing Shine to preserve Shin's ability to perform.

Shin pioneered the technique "Prism Rush," reigniting the audience's initial wonder for Prism Shows. His repertoire includes Prism Jumps like "Over the Sunshine," "Shining Splash," "Shin Infinite Hug" (a variation of Kōji's "Infinite Hug"), and "Rising Sunshine." His performances feature in songs such as "Over the Sunshine!," "Sweet Sweet Sweet," "Dramatic LOVE," and "Platonic Sword." In *All Stars: Prism Show ☆ Best Ten*, "Platonic Sword" (credited to Shin/Shine) ranked eighth in the in-universe popularity contest.

Key relationships shape his path: Louis catalyzed his entry into the Prism world, though Shin remains unaware of Louis's deeper feelings; Hiro Hayami is his idol and professional inspiration; and he shares camaraderie with fellow Edel Rose students, notably Minato Takahashi, who prepares celery in a way Shin accepts despite his general dislike. Before becoming a Prism Star, Shin played soccer. His favorite food is deep-fried shrimp, and he retains an innocent, honest outlook.
